Sound matters

I hate to make too many blog posts that are just links, but Little Black Book has a couple excellent articles this month about sound.

It's an exciting time to be a filmmaker or creative of any kind now, and it's true that the sound world is catching up a bit lately to the more prominent advances on the picture side. 3D and 4k make headlines, but Atmos and some of the new possibilities for sound on the web are really exciting, too, and are gaining some mindshare.

Here's my favorite quote from the articles, which echos the philosophy here at Hugmonster Sound: sound design "should elevate the emotional impact of a piece, draw you in and fully immerse you in the narrative. It should help the core idea at all times – tell the story, not just be sound for sound’s sake."
